Helen Johannessen

Her ceramics consider light, atmosphere and escaping modern living; into the imagination and noticing detail. “My ceramic artwork relates to contemporary interpretations of modern life using geometry, abstraction and subtle form. Perspective is critical to my philosophy; allowing oneself to visually engage with the shift of where reality and vision meet; access an inner world that enables the imagination to drift and enter a state of reverie.” - Helen Johannessen Helen Johannessen is a masters degree graduate at Royal College of Art, London 2017. She has recently returned to the investigation of surface, form and their visceral effects in her contemporary ceramic and glass artwork. These ideas commenced during her Ba Hons at Middlesex Univeristy 1995. Prior to this, Helen established Yoyo Ceramics and managed the successful venture for 15 years, designing and selling her distinctive functional ware, selling to Liberty’s, The V&A, Heals and The Design Museum. She is also a professional model and mould maker and part-time University lecturer.
