The work depicts the 19th-century fire watch tower at Killington Peak in Vermont. In 1933, during the great depression, President Roosevelt made a system of fire watch towers in hilly places all over the United States. Nowadays, new technologies, aircraft and satellites have taken over the tower's function, but towers remain as memorials of the past era.
