Josefin Eklund is a young artist from Gothenburg. For a long time she has felt a passion for art involving electricity and neon. While spending time in Berlin, the capitol of neon, she visited glass blowers and had the chance to try out different materials, colors, tubes and techniques. “There are hardly any glass blowers left who work with neon and the ones who do are now old. It was very inspiring to work with others who have the same passion for neon as I do and who have spent their entire life working with it.” Josefin Eklund also worked for a neon company in Kreuzberg and their product developers helped her see the many different possibilities there are within the field. “The possibilities are endless and so are my fantasies about what can be done with neon.” The piece Every Set Is A Mindset Set is Josefin Eklunds interpretation of the intensity levels of the mind and how negative feelings can turn into positive. It is a hopeful illustration of something that can be troubling and complicated. The exhibition also includes two of her previous works, Cloudering Crucifix and Squishi Sassa. All works are neon tubes mounted on plexiglas and in an edition of 1.
