Photographer Emma Svensson and costume designer Linda Sandberg have worked with a number of actors from Glad Hudikteatern, a theatre company exclusively employing people with intellectual disabilities, to produce this series of images portraying modern day icons. Some are surrounded by glitz and glamour and others have high-profile jobs. The Police Agent is standing next to an enclosed crime scene, while the The King joyfully resides on his golden throne wearing a cape with stoat lining. The Prima Ballerina dances in the spotlight on a misty stage. The overall purpose of the show, to showcase a group of people who have been largely invisible throughout history, might very well leave the visitor with a sense of hope for the future. We all have the same right to exist, and it is quite possible to create our world accordingly.
