Kusama’s impressive career spans over six decades. This generous retrospective is a testament to a life dedicated to the making of objects reaching far and beyond any sharp categorisation. The show presents abstract figurations made in the 1950s, never been exhibited before, documentary imagery from her performances in New York in the 60s, fashion designs and much more. At all times in her life this Japanese artist’s practice is and has been on its own terms and expresses a strong sense of integrity.
