This Finnish photographer reached international acclaim in the mid 90s with a series of portraits. He documents the lives of bachelors living in rural Finland and these works now form part of an ample retrospective. Upholding the historical still-life tradition, the works centre around questions about life, death and the human condition. The artist’s signature has become the custom-made frames in which each photograph is mounted. Also characteristic of his style is the way he has chosen to install his works, juxtaposing many at the time.
