Per Fhager's work takes us to where Mega Man and Super Mario is occur to us as three dimensional stitched (yes, stitched) artworks! The artist, Per Fhager, shares his gaming experiences in the form of embroidery with motifs from his childhood computer games. Computer games is for many children ones first cultural encounter with millions of users worldwide. The early games from the 1980s and '90s is just like classic embroidery made up of dots. Per is fascinated with both embroidery and unlimited opportunities of the Games magical ability to transfer the player to another world. By combining these two interests Per has found a unique expression. His colourful embroidery is inspired by designs from retro games like Megaman, Mario and Zelda. The motifs he picks are based on memories from his own personal gaming experiences. With Per's fantasy landscapes and game heroes, he moves a a dying craft into contemporary art. A must-see show at the friendly place at Brunnsgatan 21, just a block away from the very center of Stockholm's Stureplan.
