For his collection, fashion designer Raphael Abel was inspired by 'Walden’,a book written by H.D.Thoreau. Walden is a story about simplicity, independence, altruism and truth. It is a resistance against mass consumption and propagates the ideal of slow movement. The atmosphere of the story is visualized in a contemporary collection. In cooperation with belgian photographer Klaartje Lambrechts, the vision of Raphael Abel’s work is translated in a poetic and ‘zeitgeist’ picture.
Raphael Abel is a fashion and communication designer from Düsseldorf, Germany. He has already gained working experience at different designers, amongst others at A.F. Vandevorst in Antwerp, Tim Coppens in New York and Acne Studios in Stockholm before joining the mens design team of the start-up brand Arket in 2016. The work of the Belgian photographer Klaartje Lambrechts is characterized by her alluring renderings of human emotions, often woven together into graphic or architectural perspectives. She created a strong visual identity in different fields but conceptual photography and fashion stand out the most. Klaartje Lambrechts lives and works in Antwerp.
